First Video! This is now (kind of) a Vlog!

You read that right, a video rant!! Of me! Talking at you!! It's terribly exciting!!
Here's an initial little teaser:

And then, the real deal!

In the video I said I would post some links, so here they are!

Table-Building guide on DakkaDakka:

TemplarCrusade1's Incredible Board:

Both Posted without their permission, I hope they wont mind!

Um.. no... wrong... sorry...

Looking for terrain? To the pet suply store!

Cuz let's face it, all wargamers are animals!
I'm not sure if other people are aware of this or not, buuuut if you're ever looking for some new terrain, and want it fairly cheep, you may be able to find some cool stuff from an unexpected source! Earlier this evening me and my warlock engineer/haemonculus went on a little road trip adventure! And check out some of the cool stuff we found... ( sorry for the low quality picks, gotta love camera phones!)

Here's a little bridge aaand...
here's a Big bridge! the first for only $8, the big one for only $20!
and here's another shot:

you can easily fit infantry three across or a small tank :)
Feel like some dessert terrain? Have 25 dollars?
And warlock engineer goes to ancient Greece:

And if we zoom out a little...
This thing is Freakin Huge!!!! On only costs like 40 bucks...
And something Skaven specific:

A really cool warren type thing riddled with tunnels that's absolutely huge!
And another angle:

And a taller one of a similar style:
What's particularly cool is that these are all hollow to allow bubble to get through them, it would be a simple matter to stick lights inside and make all the rocks look like they're glowing with some kind of inner light..
These two were for 50 and 25 dollars respectively :)
And finally, the coolest thing ever:

Needs no words.
Except one.
Awesome.

And now for something completely different!

Well... kinda...
For a very long time now, I've been kicking around some ideas in the back of my head... dangerous ideas :P
Ideas for my own board-game/tabletop war-game that I once described as combining Dungeons and Dragons, Magic the Gathering and Chess! How exciting!
Recently the project has resurfaced in my head, and I've been kicking around some ideas... some concepts... um...some vague feelings? Heh not a lot has happened honestly beyond some mad rambling into notepad documents... Kicking around ideas for stats, characters, equipment, as well as the nitty-gritty of things like movement, how the turn is organized, things like that...
However... there is one thing that I stumbled across that almost literally left me speechless! While over at beastsofwar.com (I would check them out if you're interested in wargaming at all) I found this little blurb fr this company who had apparently done something or other with tabletop terrain? Well it was late, and I was bored so I decided to check them out. They had this video on their website, I've probably watched it about a hundred times by now...
On this foundation my game will be built!!

And while we're on the topic of Dwarfs...

Even dwarfs have their darker side... Ever since the begining of Warhammer, tehre have been Chaos Dwarfs. Dwarfs twisted to evil by the powers of chaos, operating great dark forges spewing toxic smog that drifts across the great desert known as the Sea of Bones, masters of the forging of Deamon Bound weapons, litteral sell-swords of the highest order...
Great Stuff! Unfortunately, the Chaos Dwarfs live on only in name, as they were quickly struck from GW's repertoire of armies... (just like the squats... seriously, I think they just have a problem with dwarfs :P)
All that was left behind was a fantastic story, and the models of a bygone era...
Which, frankly, look remarkably silly! But then, something amazing happened :) GW released a model for the infamous Hellcannon of chaos, and crewed it with... get ready...
Fantastic new chaos Dwarfs!they just look so cool! This led to speculation that the line would be revived... which was then rebuffed by GW... which was then un-denied, which was then... and you get the picture. So far it is safe to say that the Chaos Dwarfs will not be returning to the mainstream anything soon.
'But they have such a wonderful back story!' you cry, and I fully agree! And I have for a while:

That's right... I've been down this road before! However, some things have change since that last incarnation of this idea... I'm older, wiser, sexier, and much better at planning things! That being said, this is more of an update fr that original post than anything else, not too much has changed, but some stuff definitely has :)
In order to field the Hellcannon, as many of them as I can, this will still be a counts-as Warriors of Chaos army. The core of 'Chaos Warriors' counts-as will still be regular dwarfs with Marauder shields, the counts-as Chaos Knights will still be riding boars, abeit, much cooler ones:

And they will still be counting as and army of the Blood God Khorn :) Still very anti-magic, and very killy!
So what's changed? Well you can't use deamons in a Warriors of Chaos army anymore, so the slayers are out and will not be counting as chosen, I want a more serious feel for this army now... they are essentially the Big Ole Evil Corporation of the Warhammer world, supplying arms and armor to all the evil factions, subjugating the beings that are supposed to be the ultimate evil, the Deamons... pretty Bad Ass if you ask me!
And to represent that, I found these wonderful miniatures from Scribor's Monstrous Miniatures:

And last but not least, the grand-general of my army, the Forge Master himself:

Ohmygodthatguyissofreakinawesome!!!!
Heh, my return to planing this army was definitely in no small part to the amazing beauty and awesomeness of this miniature!!! Heh there are also a lot of other ideas, but I feel like I'm running out of space!! I'll try to be brief...
Chaos Dwarfs have always have slaves, it's just in their nature... however, in a twist of fate, the main enemies of the 'good' dwarfs, the greenskins, have become the primary target of the Chaos Dwarf's slavers... So my plan is to have Marauders represented by these guys:
With pick-axes as weapons, many chains throughout, and Dwarven 'overseers', one of which will probably be the crew member in the middle from the Hellcannon... Also, and I dont have a picture of it yet, the Warriors of Chaos have a unit called the Warshrine... I ranted about one a while back, one for Slannesh... well the 'good' Dwarfs have a unit called The Anvil of DOOOM!! (not kidding, check it out HERE) So I was thinking, why not make a true Anvil of DOOOOM (I never get tired of saying that!) A combination of forge and demon summoning area that they bring into battle with them! :D
Um... lets see... anything else? Oh yeah! As if I didn't have enough leaders already planned... this army will be very HQ heavy... I went the ELDAR route and thought how cool it would be to have a Avatar, a kind of being that represents the spirit and the overall being of the Chaos Dwarves... mostly cuz I love this model:

I know he looks like a dwarf, but he's actually giant sized! He would count as a Demon Prince...
I think that's just about it!

Heh, I'll try for the next post to not be so dwarf related, but I make no guarantees!!

Never throw a Dwarf...

...He may realize how much he likes flying!!
Oh my goodness!! I've gone absolutely dwarf crazy over the last few days! My Skaven overlords will never forgive me...
Where oh where did this insanity start?? I'm not 100% sure... but i think it might have had something to do with stumbling on this beautiful miniature riiiight here!

Isn't he handsome?
Then in no time at all... a new idea was born! I'm not sure how exactly I came upon the idea of airships... but I did! And I immediately began to think up rules for a Dwarven Airship! This was also very exciting, as it would eventualy become the very first time I would share one of my crazy half-baked schemes with the lovely people on Dakka... with great success!! Working with several other people, we manage to hash out some rules for this monstrsity... if you want to read our process, you can find it here:

And that's just about that! The rest of my time has been spent figuring out how to build this beast! I was very lucky that, early in the planning process I discovered this lovely photo:

Sorry the image is so large, I just want you to be able to see it! This has been the design that I've been pretty much working off of, because I just love it so much! It is after all a Dwarven airship!
Now, I believe I'm going to use the Empire Steam Tank as the base for the gondola, but flipped upside down :) That's right, this thing is gonna be crazy big!!!! Hehe huge!! And oh so awesome :D
A preliminary sketch has the thing looking something like this:
Obviously just a very rough sketch! and I do hope to have the wings in the initial picture, so I need to work out how to make those... I managed to find a sweet snap-together blimp that's about 14 inches long,,, unfortunately, I have no idea how big the Steam Tank actually is, so I have no idea whether or not that's big enough!
As for the rest of the army, the company that makes the Captain also makes some sweet pirate dwarfs:

That I think would make some wonderful leaders for individual units, champions and what-not :)
I was also of thinking of including as many Ornothopters as I could fit and modeling them like little dirigibles because... well, because it fits with the whole steampunk flying dwarf armada thing that I'm going for here!
I say as many as I could fit, but I would love to leave some room in my 'Rare' section of the army open... you see, GW beat me to the punch...

Slayer Pirates!!! My I introduce to you, Long Drong, and his Slayer Pirate crew!
And with that I shall leave you for now, but now without a hearty Arrrrrr!!!

So... GUESS WHAT?????

So, because a certain beautiful lady complained about it, I realized that I really really really should update this at some point... and I came on here and... to my suprise and my horor I found...

Not a single rat.

Dun Dun Duuuuuuuuh!!!!

This has been the biggest project of the past several months and what I have been working on tirelessly then all my other little side projects come the the inevitable point where I will actually have to buy something if I wish to continue planning them! :P
The Nezumi (Japanese for rat or mouse... I use lots and lots of Japanese words and influences in this army!) are the first army in... well ever... that I have actually made! And so, for this first of many posts on the Ratmen of the Grimdark (grimdark is a phrase GW coined for describing the particular ascetic of the 40k universe) I will be showing off everything I have actually assembled thus far!! Sorry for the crappy pictures, still learning how to take good small ones...
Here we have the HQ (headquarters or leaders) of the army! I'm playing a counts-as Dark Eldar list, so these guys represent, from left to right, a Lahemean from the Archon's future retinue, the Archon himself, and a Hemonculus.
This shot is to give you a basic idea of what the clanrats, the main troops in my army will look like :) I don't know if you can tell, but im terribly proud of how I managed to fit the gun into his little hand, it actually looks like he's pulling the trigger!
Army shot!! Here they are from the right...
And from above!! The rat ogre is a counts-as Grotesque :) Unfortunately, this picture was taken before the Archon had gotten his weapon switch, and he still sports a massive cleaver, rather than his sexy new pistol...
And finally, a shot of the Rat Ogre, lording over the little rat underlings! In my opinion, the Rat Ogres from the Island of Blood set are some of the most beautiful models that GW has ever produced!

TaDaa!! There they are ladies and gentleman, why not give them a round of applause!! I think that that's long enough for this first post, but I promise, there will be much more to come!!

What to write, what to write... I know, let my adoring fans (fan) decide!

It's been a while since I posted anything and I'm just overflowing with Ideas! SO many that I couldn't even begin to describe them all right now! So it's up to you, the fans (fan) to decide what I rant about next!! So, without further delay, the choices are... *drumroll...*

Plant Marines (until i think of a better name)-
Every marine has an organ implanted during their creation that allows them to absorb some of the memories of a dead creature by eating it's flesh... so what happens when a marine chapter's homeworld is on a planet with sentient plants? Are the marines battle hardened minds strong enough to withstand thousands of years of memories and emotions?
Not at all!

White Templars-
One of the most famous Space Marine Chapters of all time are the Black Templars. Engaged in thousands of crusades across the entire galaxy they are the only Chapter to contain more than a thousand men. They are known as the Swords of the God-Emperor.
But What of the White Templars? One of only two Chapter to be created from the gene seed of the Black Templars, and yet nothing is known of them... In my mind... they are, The Shields of the Emperor!

Arship Pirates-
Need I say more? With the Space Marine rules of course :)

And...
Jacks Lanterns-
Specially Halloween themed army, centered around the insane Demon Prince Jack, and his dark world of twisted Chivalry. The Pumpkin King, The Orange Knight, his insane gallivanting journey around his personal twilight invariably leaves a hoard of twisted creatures in his wake... his not-quite soulless minions, Jack's Lanterns.

And so, the Great Space Marine Army Fluff Contest (also known as GSMAFC for short) all comes down to you! Your vote will decide which i rant about in my next post!!
Comment away!!
