Never throw a Dwarf...

...He may realize how much he likes flying!!
Oh my goodness!! I've gone absolutely dwarf crazy over the last few days! My Skaven overlords will never forgive me...
Where oh where did this insanity start?? I'm not 100% sure... but i think it might have had something to do with stumbling on this beautiful miniature riiiight here!

Isn't he handsome?
Then in no time at all... a new idea was born! I'm not sure how exactly I came upon the idea of airships... but I did! And I immediately began to think up rules for a Dwarven Airship! This was also very exciting, as it would eventualy become the very first time I would share one of my crazy half-baked schemes with the lovely people on Dakka... with great success!! Working with several other people, we manage to hash out some rules for this monstrsity... if you want to read our process, you can find it here:

And that's just about that! The rest of my time has been spent figuring out how to build this beast! I was very lucky that, early in the planning process I discovered this lovely photo:

Sorry the image is so large, I just want you to be able to see it! This has been the design that I've been pretty much working off of, because I just love it so much! It is after all a Dwarven airship!
Now, I believe I'm going to use the Empire Steam Tank as the base for the gondola, but flipped upside down :) That's right, this thing is gonna be crazy big!!!! Hehe huge!! And oh so awesome :D
A preliminary sketch has the thing looking something like this:
Obviously just a very rough sketch! and I do hope to have the wings in the initial picture, so I need to work out how to make those... I managed to find a sweet snap-together blimp that's about 14 inches long,,, unfortunately, I have no idea how big the Steam Tank actually is, so I have no idea whether or not that's big enough!
As for the rest of the army, the company that makes the Captain also makes some sweet pirate dwarfs:

That I think would make some wonderful leaders for individual units, champions and what-not :)
I was also of thinking of including as many Ornothopters as I could fit and modeling them like little dirigibles because... well, because it fits with the whole steampunk flying dwarf armada thing that I'm going for here!
I say as many as I could fit, but I would love to leave some room in my 'Rare' section of the army open... you see, GW beat me to the punch...

Slayer Pirates!!! My I introduce to you, Long Drong, and his Slayer Pirate crew!
And with that I shall leave you for now, but now without a hearty Arrrrrr!!!

So... GUESS WHAT?????

So, because a certain beautiful lady complained about it, I realized that I really really really should update this at some point... and I came on here and... to my suprise and my horor I found...

Not a single rat.

Dun Dun Duuuuuuuuh!!!!

This has been the biggest project of the past several months and what I have been working on tirelessly then all my other little side projects come the the inevitable point where I will actually have to buy something if I wish to continue planning them! :P
The Nezumi (Japanese for rat or mouse... I use lots and lots of Japanese words and influences in this army!) are the first army in... well ever... that I have actually made! And so, for this first of many posts on the Ratmen of the Grimdark (grimdark is a phrase GW coined for describing the particular ascetic of the 40k universe) I will be showing off everything I have actually assembled thus far!! Sorry for the crappy pictures, still learning how to take good small ones...
Here we have the HQ (headquarters or leaders) of the army! I'm playing a counts-as Dark Eldar list, so these guys represent, from left to right, a Lahemean from the Archon's future retinue, the Archon himself, and a Hemonculus.
This shot is to give you a basic idea of what the clanrats, the main troops in my army will look like :) I don't know if you can tell, but im terribly proud of how I managed to fit the gun into his little hand, it actually looks like he's pulling the trigger!
Army shot!! Here they are from the right...
And from above!! The rat ogre is a counts-as Grotesque :) Unfortunately, this picture was taken before the Archon had gotten his weapon switch, and he still sports a massive cleaver, rather than his sexy new pistol...
And finally, a shot of the Rat Ogre, lording over the little rat underlings! In my opinion, the Rat Ogres from the Island of Blood set are some of the most beautiful models that GW has ever produced!

TaDaa!! There they are ladies and gentleman, why not give them a round of applause!! I think that that's long enough for this first post, but I promise, there will be much more to come!!
